January 17, 2018 – JOLT – Cultivated Habitualness

“Motivation gets you going and habit gets you there.” – Zig Ziglar

Easy to say…

But not always easy to do.

Change. Begin a new initiative. Put a long-pondered plan into action. Actually institute a resolution. Become someone beyond who you’ve been before.

Motivation is key, and countless ideas and splendid plans have no birth without it.

Yet, what’s often missing is to realize that the desired new creations never existed before because there were no structures in place to hold them.

Plain and simple, we’re talking habits.

New habits are what put desired changes into potential existence and then, with practice, eventual reality.

As you continue in hot pursuit of the fresh goals, personal changes, and inspiring themes of your new year, focusing on the construction of new habits will go take you further than hanging out in the motivation.

Start building the structures and, as with any new construction projects you’ve ever been involved with or surrounded by, a healthy dose of compassion will go a long way.

“Forgive our appearance while we are under construction!”

I offered a worldwide webinar yesterday for 169 former fellow initiates of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the national honorary leadership society.

It was all about constructing career and thought leadership in 2018.

I’m making it available to you for a limited time so that you can get the tools to support your construction as well. See the replay here.

Enjoy the webinar and the full 40 minutes of Q & A afterwards, and make a habit of engaging in the resources to help fulfill your big games in 2018.  http://careerguy.com/ODK

January 10, 2018 – JOLT – Rise Above

“Rise above the storm and you will find the sunshine.” – Mario Fernandez

There’s a lot of noise…

And you and I have a fresh start at rising above it.

The New Year gives us an opportunity to transcend the noise: in your career, in your business, in world events, and primarily, in your head.

Your head wants to move forward but is sometimes weighed down by the past rationalizing loudly “Can anything really change? Can I really change?”

If there ever was a perfect time — other than birthdays — to start thinking and acting differently, you just hit that time stamp 10 days ago.

So, without all the serious pomp and circumstance of creating new years resolutions, what are some areas you could institute changes in, of even a seemingly minor consequence? It all starts with simply starting.

For example, on New Years Day, without any forethought or planning, I simply decided to end each day this year by reviewing a powerful quote on my phone, and then to review it again and meditate on it in the morning.

No big wup, you might say, but who knows how this little contextual shift might impact everything coming in between my morning and evening bookending of that power quote?

Look for yourself: what could you just begin now that would support you rising above some noise in your own life? A new daily practice? A new hobby, even in the face of your claims of not enough time? A new mindset about approaching your career and dreams?

In regard to your career and dreams, here’s a free gift I’d like to offer you to inspire you above the noise (possibly in your own head) that says this year will be no different than any other.

Your career and your dreams will be what you make of them. Let’s have them be louder than the noise, starting NOW. Get a helpful gift at http://careerguy.com/free-gift.

January 3, 2018 – JOLT – Start

“Let’s get it started in here.” – The Black Eyed Peas

It’s that time again…

Prepped or not, recovered from partying or not, neatly resolved or newly intentioned or not…the fresh, next segment of life according to you begins: 2018.

Just like no one ever feels “actually ready” to — have a child; leave the so-so job; write that book; go into business for ourselves; or any other leap of faith — once we get on the other side of the apprehension, there’s an exciting new game to play.

It’s just all that sense of unknown that you might tend to shy away from. But unknown is on it’s way…so let’s just jump in!

My version of unknown I’m stepping into is this new server and new way of serving up my weekly JOLT inspirations, which I’ve offered for over 4 years now on a previous server I’ve grown out of.

In 2018, I intend to even better and more efficiently “jolt” you to reach your career growth and life dreams and have everyday be your best day…through weekly inspiration, contrarian thought, and new angles of perception.

We “unhump” Wednesdays because, if you’re delighted in what you’re doing in your job, career, business and life during the week, you don’t need to celebrate simply sliding into Friday!

To support that end (you being delighted in the New Year), if you didn’t catch the gobs of giveaways I offered for the last 40 days of 2017, I’m holding the door cracked open one last time before they’re gone.

Slip in the door and grab all the goodies laid out on the holidays table to help you wrap up 2017 with a bow and renew yourself for a change of scene in 2018.

Get your 6 weeks of freebies here. You’ll see the last one offered there but, when you sign up for it, you’ll get all 6.

Enjoy, and let’s each create our own personal change of scene in 2018. Use these freebies to do so!

Got start?

“I feel like I have a new life and I’m going to take full advantage of it.” –William Green

Thank God for totally made up rituals that encourage us to begin again.

There’s no particular or scientific “reason” that new intentions, resolutions, or changes instituted in the next week are any more valid or sustainable than those made at any other time of the year.

Time itself is a made up concept. Yet, historically, humanity has chosen to place a lot of weight on the transition from one specific day to another: New Years Day.

So, we might as well jump on that bandwagon for all it’s worth. Even if, only gradually, we can annually see ourselves becoming more the person we want to be and doing the things we want to do, any effort toward change is worthwhile.

For the last 5 weeks, I’ve offered you FREE tips, tools and resources for milking this period of restart, both as a thank you for subcribing and out of my commitment to your particular best yet to come.

Today, and for this next week only, I’m opening up the door to my most powerful gift of these 40 Days of Thanksgiving — “A Back Forty Re-NEW-ALL Program” — as a resource for you to use in these last few days of 2017 to begin 2018 renewed, re-intentioned and recharged.

A Back Forty Re-NEW-ALL Program is my most recent online course to support you to turn life’s lemons into gold (come on…who didn’t get a lemon in 2017?) and pointing you toward the new person those experiences are giving you the opportunity to be.

Thing is, though my previous gifts have been completely free, our new online program server doesn’t allow the course to be given away completely free…but I can discount it to the max!

So, I’m doing that, and if you care to put only ONE DOLLAR toward your 2018 possibilities (actually, 97 cents), you’ll access this new online course…along with all the other gifts given for the last 5 weeks.

I only ask — because it’s my newest and most heartfelt course — that you be willing to give us a review afterwards so others can see what’s possible for themselves from your experience.

Deal?

Let’s go into this New Year with all the power of the new beings the last year created us to be!

Reminder: As a thank you for subscribing to this ongoing weekly inspiration (4 years, as of last month), I’m offering free gifts and discounts each week between Thanksgiving and the New Year: 40 Days of Thanksgiving.

This will be the last Wednesday “serving of the week” but you can still get them all now…and may our last days of 2017 be cleansing, uplifting, renewing and respirational for what lies ahead.

Today’s Serving (please pass it around the table to those it can help):

A Back Forty Re-NEW-ALL Program ($29 Value) for only $1.

“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible’!” –Audrey Hepburn

More ideas and plans of our next, greater-yet-to-be selves are created at this time of year than any other…except maybe our birthdays.

If we give ourselves the freedom to really consider who we’d really like to be being — in our career, relationships, dreams — and what we’d really like to be doing — in our career, relationships, dreams — and what we’d really like to be having — in our career, relationships, dreams — the wish list could be endless.

But that’s fine! Opening up the floodgates to your wants and desires is the necessary first step!

Until you truly realize how much you want that next level, you won’t do whatever it takes to reach toward it.

So, we begin by letting go of the stuck idea that this is just the way it is, the way we are, and they way it has to be.

Possibilities are a priceless commodity in life…in both good times and bad. Margaret Drabble says “When nothing is sure, all things are possible.”

What are the possibilities you’re willing to list out today for the person you’ll be, the things you’ll do, and the experiences you’ll have in the coming year?

Today’s gift (besides the previous four gifts you’ll also gain access to) is particularly pointed toward your career possibilities, whether you’re an employee, executive or entrepreneur. The people you’ll meet — today, tomorrow, next month — will always hold the key to your doorway of possibilities.

So, download up to 3 audio interviews I did with the masters of connection — Harvey Mackay, Barbara Sher, and Richard Nelson Bolles — to empower your career possibilities in the coming year.

Reminder: As a thank you for subscribing to this ongoing weekly inspiration (4 years, as of last month), I’m offering free gifts and discounts each week between Thanksgiving and the New Year: 40 Days of Thanksgiving.

So, please watch for “the serving of the week” each Wednesday, and may our last 40 days of 2017 be cleansing, uplifting, renewing and respirational for what lies ahead.

“Conversion is a daily thing.” –Jim Caviezel

Conversion is a word handled delicately because of religious overtones.

Yet, we are all “converting” all the time, into more of who we came here to be and what we came here to do.

This is a time of year when many of us seek to examine who we have been and what we have accomplished over the last twelve months, and who we want to be and what we want to achieve in the coming year.

Gandhi said “Conversion is a matter of the heart and reason.” So, we not only give ourselves the opportunity to clean up from the past — Auld Lang Syne — but rationally intend and design the future.

Our 40 Days of Thanksgiving series and gifts (from Thanksgiving until Jan 1) has been all about providing you with tools to make this annual conversion more clear and powerful.

Plato said “Conversion is not implanting eyes, for they exist already; but giving them a right direction, which they have not.”

So, today’s gift (besides all the previous ones you get access to) is an opportunity to sit down with me to personally point your career, “big game” ahead, or Back Forty future in the right direction for you…at an additional $50 discount off of some already Holiday Sale-priced sessions.

Whether for you or as a present for someone you know, pointed personal clarity can be the gift that keeps on giving for months and years to come.

“Almost every successful person begins with two beliefs: the future can be better than the present, and I have the power to make it so.” –David Brooks

Sometimes our inspiration, advancement and growth comes naturally and easily.

Sometimes, we need to generate it.

The feelings won’t always be aligned with the direction we’d prefer to go. Comfort zones are…well, comfy.

While acknowledging the feelings, we can choose to either be at the effect of them, or choose to generate a new possibility…even if out of thin air.

Fake it ’til you make it isn’t necessarily a sustainable, long-term track, but it beats the absolute non-productivity of falling prey to a mood, fear or comfort.

As we continue the 40 Days of Thanksgiving between the recent Thanksgiving holiday and the beginning of the New Year, this hopeful time will have many moods.

Also, what’s possible in the New Year can bring up many fears.

December may be the time to generate and call the shot on how it’s going to be…through the holidays and into 2018.

In that vein, I offered you last week a hugely cool exercise, Milestones & Memorable Moments, to help you review and appreciate your 2017.

This week, my gift is a video course to support your career expansion possibilities in 2018. I’ve offered this course to over 9000 students worldwide at $20, yet I’m giving it to you as a continued thank you for being a subscriber.

As you view the Preview of Dream Job Lifeline, begin to consider how the power of connections can help you generate your career growth outside the comfort zone in 2018. And, begin to apply the principles now…because this holiday period is the BEST time of the year for making connections!

Reminder: As a thank you for subscribing to this ongoing weekly inspiration (4 years, as of last month), I’m offering free gifts each week between Thanksgiving and the New Year: 40 Days of Thanksgiving.

“Don’t lose sight of the spirit of the season. Be grateful for everything you already have.” –Unknown

As we continue the 40 Days of Thanksgiving between last Thursday’s festivities and the beginning of the New Year, we enter our annual period of most hope.

Spirits are generally just brighter during these last weeks of the year, as it’s the time humanity gets most in touch with its connectedness.

We also use the calendar’s turning as a ritual to move past what has now become the past (the last 11 months) and begin hoping and planning for new possibilities.

To continue the 40-Day giving streak I’ve set in place, this week I’d like to offer you a wonderful process to support your wrapping up of 2017 in a powerful way.

I give it to you now because it’s something you’ll want to engage in right away, before beginning to set new goals for the coming year.

You’ll love it (or hate it, if this is challenging for you), as it’s all about Self Acknowledgment and Appreciation.

As you walk through the powerful exercise, you’ll get to recognize the many Milestones & Memorable Moments revealing what there is to be thankful for and appreciate about your particular version of 2017.

Reminder: As a thank you for subscribing to this ongoing weekly inspiration (4 years, as of this month), I’ll be offering free gifts each week between now and the New Year: 40 Days of Thanksgiving.

“I made over forty Westerns. I used to lie awake nights trying to think up new ways of getting on and off a horse.” –William Wyler

Forty is a significant number in multiple cultures.

There are multiple references to it in various religious scriptures.

The Jews of biblical times used the phrase “40 days and 40 nights” to reference a really long time. It’s also used today in religious and spiritual circles to represent a period of trial, probation, and reconstitution.

For Muslims, it is said that Muhammad was forty years old when he first received the revelation and, according to the Quran, a person is only fully grown or mentally matured when they reach the age of 40.

Did you even know that each passing solar year can very effectively (even perfectly) be metered by keeping track of every 40th day?

Today, for those of us in the US, it is simply the time between Thanksgiving (tomorrow) and the beginning of the upcoming New Year.

As a thank you for subscribing to this ongoing weekly inspiration (4 years, as of this month), I’ll be offering free gifts each week between now and the New Year: 40 Days of Thanksgiving.

So, please watch for “the serving of the week” each Wednesday, and may our next 40 days of 2017 be cleansing, uplifting, renewing and respirational for what lies ahead.

“Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience.” –Paulo Coelho

Bravery sounds epic.

But what if it’s simple…and perhaps even unnoticeable to the outside world.

What if it’s only being willing to take one simple action outside our comfort zone.

What if it’s merely being willing to do a double-take on ourselves and examine our already-always belief systems of who we are and ways of doing things.

What if it’s just being willing to try a new path without knowing the result.

Bravery inspires us when spotlighted in extreme events, yet every single moment of our day is an opportunity for quiet and unheralded bravery.

Perhaps we could all benefit from the regular awarding of personal medals of valor.

What simple action, self-reflection or path can you take today with only you on the streets throwing confetti about?

Got private medal?
